A Performer’s Guide to Joining Spotlight with Sandra Reynolds
If you’ve just joined our actors division here at Sandra Reynolds as a performer over the age of 18 - welcome!
One of the first things we’ll do together is make sure you’re on Spotlight, the industry’s go-to casting platform for actors, models, and presenters. It’s where casting directors and production companies search when they’re looking for talent, so having a profile there is essential for your career.
Here’s how we’ll guide you through the process and make it as straightforward as possible.
Who can join Spotlight?
Spotlight isn’t an open sign-up platform - you need to meet certain criteria to be accepted. This is to make sure the database stays professional and relevant to casting directors.
You can join Spotlight through one of three routes:
-
Experience
-
One featured role with an Equity or equivalent union contract, or
-
Two professional performance credits.
-
Training
-
At least one year of full-time professional performance training (minimum of RQF Level 5 or equivalent), or
-
Two years of part-time practical performance training.
-
Recommendation
-
If you don’t yet meet the Experience or Training requirements, we can recommend you to Spotlight through their Recommendation Scheme. This is open to all Spotlight-registered agents (like us), as well as certain industry organisations.
How we help you join Spotlight
We check your eligibility
We’ll review your credits, training, and any professional experience to see which entry route fits you best. If you’re just starting out and don’t yet have enough credits, we’ll assess whether you’re a strong candidate for our recommendation.

Profile approval and go-live
Once your application is accepted, your profile will go live and be linked directly to us. That means any suitable castings that come through Spotlight will be reviewed and submitted by our booking team.

A note on the Recommendation Scheme
Not everyone starts with the “right” credits or training, and that’s okay. If we believe you’re ready to compete for professional work, we’ll complete a Spotlight Performer Recommendation Form for you. You attach this to your Spotlight application, and it gives casting directors confidence in your potential.
If you’ve been on Spotlight before
Already had a Spotlight profile in the past? We’ll reactivate it rather than create a brand-new one - this keeps your credits, skills, and history intact. All you’ll need to do is log in and update your details (we can help you with this).
Why it matters
Spotlight is where your career starts to gain momentum. Without it, your visibility to professional casting opportunities is limited. By joining through Sandra Reynolds, you’ll have a professional team not only helping you get on the platform, but also actively working to get you seen by the right people.
In short:
-
We check eligibility and guide you to the right entry route.
-
You complete the application (with us on hand to help).
-
Spotlight approves your profile and links it to us.
-
We manage casting submissions on your behalf.
